Angler Profession: First Rod and Daily Loop

The route in one sentence

Track Delphin, complete the starter rod objective, learn one reliable shoreline catch, then keep request fish before selling duplicates.

Step 1 · Track the mentor

Use Mentors to find Delphin

Open the map, switch to the Mentors category and select Delphin at AquaBlue Outpost. Francis is a coastal resident, but Delphin is the Angler mentor for the first profession objective.

Watch for: Do not follow a character gift guide when your actual goal is the Angler profession.

Step 2 · Accept Angler

Read the first rod objective

Talk to Delphin, accept Apprentice Angler and read the tracked objective. The quest may point you back to a Worktable or require an item from the profession chain.

Watch for: Skipping dialogue can hide where the recipe or starter item was placed.

Step 3 · Check crafting

Find the rod recipe at the Worktable

Open Worktable I and browse the equipment recipes. Hover every material icon and confirm whether the recipe expects raw or processed parts.

Process only the missing parts

Watch for: A material with a similar icon may be the wrong tier or processed form.

Step 4 · Choose the spot

Stand at a clear shoreline

Equip the rod and face open water without rocks, plants or docks blocking the cast. Use a simple nearby edge for the first tutorial catch.

Keep the rod on the active hotbar

Watch for: A cast can fail when the cursor is over land or the water is too shallow.

Step 5 · Complete the prompt

React to the bite and land the fish

Wait for the clear bite prompt, then follow the on-screen catch input rather than pressing repeatedly. Watch the result notice to confirm the fish entered the bag.

Watch for: Closing the result too quickly can make you miss a quest or new-item notification.

Step 6 · Check demand

Compare fish with requests before selling

Open the Bulletin Board and inspect current rewards. Keep fish that complete a request or collection goal; only sell duplicates after those checks.

Keep rare or new species until catalogued

Watch for: Selling the first copy may delay a request, Stamp reward or Islandpedia entry.

Step 7 · Build a loop

Use the skateboard between fishing spots

Once the board is unlocked, connect AquaBlue Outpost, a clear shoreline, the General Store and the Bulletin Board into one daily circuit.

Watch for: Long runs without bag space are the main early fishing bottleneck.

Step 8 · Balance income

Pair fishing with crops and processors

Fishing is strongest as gap-filler income. Cast while crops grow or machines process, then return home before the next objective or day cutoff.

Watch for: Pure fishing can stall profession materials if you ignore farming and crafting dependencies.
